Mr. B. Selvakumar, born on April 3, 1970, to M. Sokkammal and F. Balakrishnan, has always been passionate about the world of art and sculpture. His artistic journey began with a diploma in arts and sculpture, followed by a bachelor’s degree in science, both from the prestigious Mamallapuram College of Sculpture in 1994. This foundation set him on a path to become one of the most respected sculptors in the field.
For 10 years, Selvakumar honed his skills as a sculptor at GEM Granites International, where he worked on creating intricate memorials for countries across Europe and beyond. His artistic expertise soon caught the attention of international clients in places like Singapore, Germany, and Saudi Arabia, where he crafted unique sculptures that made a lasting impact.
Driven by his passion, Mr. Selvakumar launched his own venture, Selakiya Sculpt Works, which quickly gained popularity both in India and overseas. Today, Selakiya Sculpt Works is proudly in its 30th year, delivering finely detailed stone sculptures that combine traditional methods with modern techniques.
One of his most significant achievements is the sculpting of the Valmiki statue in Karnataka, which was unveiled by the Chief Minister of Karnataka and now stands proudly at Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru.
Mr. Selvakumar has received several national and international awards, and his work continues to be recognized globally for its artistic precision and creativity. His expertise in Western-style sculptures has particularly garnered attention from international clients, while Indian customers admire the intricate, handmade designs that reflect the rich heritage of Indian artistry.
